Hiking in the region

Waller is surrounded by a good network of hiking routes. These moderate routes, which lead through a landscape of gentle rolling hills, are suitable for young and old alike. A number of routes maintained by the Fränkischer Albverein (Franconian Hiking Club) lead through Waller, for example the Paul-Pfinzing-Route.

You can download the brochure „Wandern & Einkehren im Alfelder Land"  which describes eleven routes in the region and further contains a hiking map.

A hike to the “Mirzenkreuz” by Albert Geng

An enchanting path leads through the forests, ending at an old stone cross, erected upon the death of a farmer in the year 1556.
Starting in Waller, the route leads gently uphill to the outskirts of the Grafenbucher Forest. In the forest, take a left at the water trough and head towards the sign post near the highway. Shortly after that, follow the path with the green markings, which leads through the high woodlands. After a right bend, where the path again starts going uphill, take a left. The forest changes from coniferous to an indigenous mixed forest. Upon sighting Wörleinshof, turn right and continue upwards to Mirzenkreuz. Upon returning, keep left and continue straight down to Wörleinshof. From Wörleinshof, follow the routes 1 and PP upward. Take a left at the road junction and return back to Waller.
